The Davis County Commission approved an interlocal cooperative master agreement on June 2 to centralize emergency dispatch services at a regional emergency communications center to be operated by Leighton.
Chief Arnold Butcher of the Sheriff’s Office said the agreement will take effect after all parties execute documents and will run for three years. The contract payment formula is based on call volumes, the number of officers or deputies dispatched and residents served; staff said Davis County’s cost under the arrangement is expected to be roughly equivalent to current dispatch spending.
Commission discussion was brief; the motion passed by voice vote and the transcript records one commissioner abstaining from the vote because they were excluded from earlier meetings and decisions on the project.
The agreement is intended to improve public safety and standardize communications across the region; staff noted extensive work preceded the agenda item.
