Davis County approved a two‑year lease June 2 for a temporary 1,500‑square‑foot off‑site library in the North Salt Lake area intended to relieve demand at the Centerville branch during remodeling.
Library Director Josh Johnson said the off‑site space — informally called the "Twig" by staff — will offer book lending, story times and a small meeting room and is designed to pull some patron services off the main branch. Johnson said the branch size and meeting-room capacity are limited, and staff aim to open the location as soon as late July depending on internet and facility setup.
North Salt Lake City Manager Ken Letham thanked the commission and library staff for the partnership, noting the new location will serve North Salt Lake and Woods Cross residents on the north side of the freeway.
Commissioners approved the lease by voice vote and said they will revisit operating hours and services as the county moves closer to reopening the remodeled Centerville facility mid‑to‑late next year.
