Bloomberg has asked the Montgomery Township Committee to relax the township's standard construction-hour restrictions to allow reroofing and rooftop improvement work from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. beginning in mid-July and running through October.
Administrator Laurie Saveron told the committee the applicant's proposed schedule aims to reduce disruption inside the office buildings by working later in the day. "They would like to have permission...from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.," she said, and staff brought the request before the committee because it cannot be approved administratively.
Several members expressed concern about the late hour and potential noise impacts for nearby residences. Committee member Martin said Bloomberg should provide more detail about expected disruption and the surrounding residential proximity so the township can assess impacts; another member suggested the company be asked to appear before the June 18 meeting to explain plans and mitigation strategies. "10 p.m. sounds really late," one member said.
Staff agreed to follow up with Bloomberg to request an in-person presentation and to collect additional information on nearby residences and expected noise levels. Committee members suggested exploring intermediate options (for example, a later end time of 8 or 9 p.m.) and emphasized the importance of neighborly communication. The committee did not take action at the meeting and will consider Bloomberg's presentation at the next meeting.
