Board approves Deer Trail Drive water-main replacement contract after low bid review

The Utility Board accepted a low quote from City Plumbing to replace the Deer Trail Drive water main and authorized moving forward with the project, which staff said is scheduled for July.

Board members noted the water main runs eight or nine feet deep in locations and that repeated breaks required costly short-term repairs and traffic closures near Art Street. The project will replace sections that have been repeatedly problematic; the low quote from City Plumbing was $115,000 per the packet. Board members described the price as reasonable for the scope and voted to approve the award by roll call.

Staff said the work will require cutting the concrete road, staged detours and a likely full shutdown of Park Street for up to a week; the board asked staff to provide notice and detour information to affected residents and said scheduling in July would minimize impacts during the school year.
