At the June 3 meeting the Allegany County Public Safety Committee authorized several grant applications and approved a maintenance contract intended to support county emergency response infrastructure.
Sheriff Scott Ciserella asked the committee to seek an American Heart Association Mary Vhar Lily Communication Impact Grant of $9,850 to buy AEDs and provide CPR/AED training so deputies could carry AEDs in patrol vehicles; the committee approved applying. “It makes sense,” a legislator said, noting the equipment is costly but appropriate for first responders.
Members also approved applying for a New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Operations Grant; the county s stated share was $286,626 and the funds were described as intended to support 911 center infrastructure and communications. The committee then approved a statewide interoperability communications grant application that listed a county share of $1,232,212 and prompted discussion about equipment lifecycle costs and interoperability across the Pennsylvania border.
Separately the committee authorized a three‑year generator preventive‑maintenance contract with Stark Technology Services of Buffalo for scheduled visits at the county's 911 communication sites. The transcript records the contract figures with inconsistent formatting when read aloud; members confirmed the work will be paid from existing grant funds or grant proceeds when appropriate.
All four items were approved by voice vote. Acceptance of awarded grants or the contract will require the usual board resolutions to appropriate funds and finalize vendor terms.
