A groundbreaking ceremony in Van Alstyne marked the start of construction on the N4 Montessori early‑childhood campus, organizers said.
The mayor, speaking at the event, said the city is expanding its educational offerings and welcomed the new school. "When it comes to education in Van Alstyne, there is no such thing as too much," the Mayor said, noting nearby facilities including the Grayson County South Campus and Williams Elementary School.
Organizers said the campus is sited on FM 121 just east of Jim Jones Road and will include space for future retail at the front of the property. A project representative said earthwork and moisture conditioning on the building pad are under way and that crews expect to see construction "come out of the ground" over the next six to seven months. The representative said the build will use a prefabricated metal wall system that is uncommon for this product type and that the design aims to add value to the community.
On scheduling, organizers said pre‑enrollment is expected to begin in about two months and that, barring issues, they are targeting a January 2027 opening. The representative noted a colleague, Manny, had earlier mentioned December as a target but said the current internal schedule is January.
Project partners cited at the ceremony included city staff, engineers, architects and parents who plan to enroll children. Organizers encouraged residents to watch the project's communications channels for updates and enrollment notices.
