During the public comment portion of the Port Committee meeting, a resident identified as Butch asked the committee to recommend that the Board of Trustees install a sign at New Farm Park that reads "Future home of New Farm Park," ideally prior to a large concert planned for August 30.
Committee members responded favorably: a member moved that the committee recommend the Board consider installing the sign, another member seconded, and the committee voted in support of forwarding the recommendation to the Board. No date for Board action was set at the meeting; staff said they would note the committee’s recommendation for the Board’s consideration.
Butch described the site as having been town-owned for three-and-a-half years and contrasted the desired sign with an existing large sign at Richardson; he framed the sign as a goodwill gesture to raise awareness about the park and its upcoming events. Committee members explained they would recommend placement but generally resisted committing to a specific completion date on the sign, preferring wording such as "coming soon" rather than a firm date.
The committee’s recommendation will be included in materials provided to the Board of Trustees for their review.
