The Director told the board Seashore Water Park has opened for the season and reported strong attendance and staff orientation; many pool parties are already booked.
He outlined June programming: Kuana's Fishing Derby at the Hot Pond (this Saturday), Summerfest downtown with concerts Friday and Saturday nights, a Buick/Pontiac/Oldsmobile/Cadillac car show in Memorial Park, and a Boone County Cancer Society cruising-for-a-cause car show with food trucks on June 13. The Director also described a sensory-swim event on June 9 and 11 (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) that will shut off pool features to provide a low-stimulation session for children.
On July events the Director asked visitors not to place tarps or blankets on the grounds and said reserved picnic tables will be rented starting Friday, July 3 at 4:00 p.m.; he noted fireworks will conclude the symphony-at-sunset event. The Carnival is scheduled to arrive June 30 and stay through July 5, and the Director encouraged residents to follow city and Boone County social media pages for updates.
The board clarified the symphony date (the Director and Chair confirmed it will be Saturday the 27th) and discussed logistics such as rented picnic tables and fireworks timing.
Why it matters: the calendar shapes park staffing, traffic and access for neighborhoods and visitors during summer weekends and holiday celebrations.
