Youth Legislature election results: Langley Foster elected governor for 80th session; initiative to add name pronunciations passes

At the closing joint session, Director of Elections Sarah Ellen Howze announced the results of elections and initiatives for the next Washington YMCA Youth Legislature session.

Howze reported approximately 89% voter turnout for the elections. She announced Initiative 7901—concerning adding name pronunciations to delegate placards—had passed. Initiative 7902, which would have changed the Capital Chronicles to Capital Capers, failed.

Howze then read the winners of major offices for the 80th session. Winners named on the rostrum included: Ronit Vade (Chief Lobbyist Executive), Khadija So (Editor in Chief), Sloan Wells (Postmaster General), Jackie Wentz (Attorney General), Emmett Schultz (Secretary of State), Zay Reed (Speaker Pro Tempore), Nate Hamm (Speaker of the House), Donovan Hahola (President Pro Tempore), Siri Moen (Lieutenant Governor), and Langley Foster (Governor for the 80th session).

The announcements concluded with instructions for winners to come forward to the rostrum. The session then moved to housekeeping announcements and closing formalities.
