The Norton Select Board on June 6 approved several procurement actions and one board appointment.
Staff recommended awarding the DPW cooperative supply contract through the Southeastern Regional Services Group; the board voted to approve that award for the July 2024–June 2025 term. Staff also presented bids for water and sewer treatment chemicals and reported several unit prices dropped from last year (for example, staff noted potassium hydroxide moved from about $5.22 per gallon last year to $4.37 per gallon in the current bid). The board approved the chemical contract and authorized the account manager to sign.
On janitorial services, staff said nine bidders responded and recommended awarding a two‑year contract (07/01/2024–06/30/2026) to low bidder MC Cleaning for new town hall and senior‑center coverage; the board voted to award that contract. A board member noted the town can exit contracts if necessary and that budget adjustments would be made in the fall if override questions change revenue expectations.
The board also approved the appointment of Jared Ferrer to the Traffic Safety Committee by majority vote.
Votes: motions to award the DPW cooperative supply contract, the water/sewer chemical contract, and the janitorial services contract were made, seconded and approved by roll call. The board directed the responsible staff to finalize contracts and execute signatures as authorized.
The meeting also included routine agenda items and community announcements.
