Five bids opened for Justice Building façade reconstruction; bids taken under advisement

Kosciusko County opened and read five bids for the Justice Building façade reconstruction and related specialty work, then took the proposals under advisement for later evaluation.

Bids announced at the public opening included: Buckeye Construction and Restoration LLC (Waterford, Ohio), Hagrum Construction (Fort Wayne, Indiana), Wells Masonry (New Palestine, Indiana), Structural Waterproofing and Restoration LLC (Memphis, Tennessee), and Berglund Construction Company (Chesterton, Indiana). The amounts were read aloud during the meeting and recorded in the official bid documents; the clerk noted the bids would be taken under advisement.

Commissioners and staff observed that an engineer's estimate was not prepared for some specialty work, making immediate price benchmarking difficult. No award was made at the meeting; staff will review the bids and return a recommendation to the commission.
