The Davis School District board approved the content of its new strategic plan and directed administration to proceed with design, communications and implementation.
Dr. Ton summarized the development process and outreach: about 805 individuals participated in feedback sessions spanning preliminary planning through final drafts. The plan emphasizes three cross-cutting commitments for staff work: teams and people (collaboration), results and measurement (high-reliability practices), and belonging. Trustees said they expect administration to integrate the plan into board reporting and staff work and to produce accessible web and print materials.
The motion, moved by Miss Mercer and seconded by Miss Stevens, directed the communications and administrative teams to produce posters, website content, short videos and training materials for rollout over the summer. Trustees discussed aligning workshop agendas and regular reports to plan areas so board discussions explicitly link to strategic goals.
Board and staff emphasized that the plan is intended to refine and align existing district work rather than produce a large, disruptive change in direction; implementation will be iterative and include updates to the board on metrics and progress.
