LaCasa staff report slow start to Chamberlain neighborhood outreach, plan June 13 picnic

Daniela, representing LaCasa, described neighborhood engagement work in the Chamberlain (high‑school adjacent) area, reporting that outreach has produced about 18 survey responses versus a goal of 40. She said a recent block‑party style event and follow‑up calls produced limited direct participation despite a higher number of RSVPs.

"This is very common in community building work," Daniela said, explaining that continued follow-up and phone calls are part of bringing residents into leadership roles. She said two residents have expressed interest in neighborhood leadership and staff will continue outreach. The group organizing a community leadership institute is planning a neighborhood meal and picnic for June 13 to foster connection and identify potential leaders.

Daniela also said staff are exploring how to engage future residents of a nearby apartment complex (move‑in phased over the summer) with private or public tours so the neighborhood can connect with new households once units open.

Commissioners encouraged continued outreach and suggested staff follow up with RSVPed residents and potential leaders; no formal actions were taken.
