The Washoe County Planning Commission on June 2 approved abandonment case WAB26-00004, a request from CED Rock Springs Solar LLC to abandon a 50-foot access easement known as Indian Lane along the southern boundaries of two parcels on Fish Springs Road.
Senior Planner Chris Bronzik said the abandonment is part of the previously approved Rock Springs solar project and is necessary "to allow for the complete buildout." He explained engineering required a deed-of-combination for the parcels and noted there is a presumed public roadway on one parcel that must be addressed through the state's relocation process.
Bringing the item before the commission, staff reported outreach to adjacent property owners; early questions from neighbors focused on whether their parcels would be affected, and once staff clarified there would be no impact to those properties, objections were not raised. Bronzik said agency conditions are included in Exhibit A of the staff report.
A motion to approve WAB26-00004 with the conditions in Exhibit A and required findings under Washoe County Code section 110.806.20 carried after a second by Commissioner Kate Nelson, with no recorded opposition.
Next steps: the applicant must complete any required roadway relocation or right-of-way processes outlined in state statute, satisfy deed-of-combination requirements placed by county engineering, and comply with conditions in Exhibit A before construction proceeds.
