Representatives from Outpatient Medical Center (OMC) introduced themselves and requested approval to expand an existing school-based health center to the junior high campus.
OMC chief executive officer Rodri Campbell said the organization has operated an elementary school clinic for about five years and that last year it served roughly 468 students with about 97 visits. Campbell said the clinic’s goal is to keep students healthy and in class and that services are provided on a parental-consent basis. Services outlined included wellness and sick visits, immunizations, medication administration under health plans, and referral access to behavioral and dental services at OMC’s nearby clinic.
A board member confirmed the expansion would be supported by a federal grant and therefore would come at no cost to the district. The board did not take a final vote during the meeting but invited OMC to present details and answer questions; members expressed general support for an expansion that would build on the existing partnership.
