A mayor-requested review of Lake View Drive found surface deterioration and localized flooding, and staff urged including the street in future resurfacing plans.
Staff member Bruce said the pavement has "alligator cracking" and the street experiences flooding during heavy rainfall, which could indicate a needed storm-sewer correction in addition to pavement work. He advised keeping Lake View Drive in the resurfacing pool and possibly adding about 150 square yards of patching to the current year’s Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) resurfacing list as a temporary measure while scheduling full resurfacing within two to five years.
Trustees debated whether to "band-aid" the street now or reserve funds for resurfacing later; some members recommended ensuring the road is on next year’s resurfacing list rather than spending on a temporary repair if full resurfacing is imminent.
Next steps: staff will keep Lake View Drive on the resurfacing radar, price the patching for inclusion in the current MFT program if appropriate, and monitor storm-sewer needs in follow-up engineering work.
