The Bay County Board of Commissioners approved a plan June 2 to expand parking at the Health Services Building, with staff saying the addition will add about 86 spaces primarily in the rear of the facility.
A county staff member said the plan is an expansion tied to signing additional tenants and to accommodate a county community conference room that seats about 80 people. "The plan is to expand and put about 86 additional spaces in the back," the staff member said.
Commissioner Paul noted the new spaces will be "mostly employee parking." Staff said the parking area will not be highly visible from the road and that construction will proceed after plan review and permitting.
The motion to approve the parking project was moved and supported and carried by voice vote. Staff said construction is expected to begin once plan review and procurement are completed and that the expansion is intended to address anticipated parking needs as tenant occupancy increases.
