The Boonville Board of Works voted to approve a demolition order for a property at 323 West Main Street and to modify a separate unsafe-structure order for a property on South 4th Street.
City staff told the board an order to demolish the structure at 323 West Main is pending and asked the board to affirm the order so fines would begin to accrue if the estate or a purchaser does not complete demolition. The board approved the order and findings as presented.
On a separate property—referred to in the meeting as 401 South 4th (listed in materials as 401 Southport)—staff said a buyer has purchased the home, obtained a permit to demolish the garage and planned to remove debris and stabilize the house. Building and planning staff recommended modifying paragraph 12 of the department’s proposed order to extend the compliance deadline; staff proposed changing the deadline to June 10 to allow the buyer time to complete the demolition without immediate penalties. The board approved the modification.
Planning staff said building inspector John Dorne had reviewed the buyer’s plan remotely and that the city would continue to monitor progress; if the structure is not removed as promised, penalties will begin to accrue and the board could later consider relief on fines only if the work is completed promptly.
The board’s approvals were routine motions followed by unanimous voice votes. Next steps include staff monitoring the demolition schedules and returning to the board if additional action or relief from fines is requested.
