Council confirms two appointments and approves $5.5 million grant reappropriation

At its June 2 meeting the Springfield City Council approved three routine agenda items on final passage: appointments to local boards and a supplemental appropriation.

The council approved ordinance 2026-263 appointing Anthony Mars to the board of managers for Oakidge Cemetery and ordinance 2026-264 appointing Megan Mton to the Lincoln Library Board of Trustees. Both items passed unanimously with recorded yes votes.

Council then approved ordinance 2026-273, a supplemental appropriation of $5,515,360 to reappropriate the remaining balance of a Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Local Tourism and Convention Funds grant (listed in the agenda as grant number 26-751-751 029) into the fiscal year 2027 budget, stating the action conforms to the original grant award. The motion carried after confirmation of the vote tally from the clerk.

Clerk Red Path recorded the votes and the council instructed staff to reflect the results in the official minutes. There was no extended debate on these items during the meeting.
