The Village of Suamico Village Board, meeting June 1, 2026, appointed Trustee Andrews to preside for the evening, approved routine business including liquor license renewals and amendments, adopted a wastewater compliance resolution and set key dates for the 2027 budget process.
Trustee Eert moved and Trustee Shidi seconded to appoint Trustee Andrews as chair for the meeting; the motion carried unanimously. The board then approved the meeting agenda and consent agenda items, which included prior minutes and department reports.
Director Smith recognized public works employee Jason Gustoson for five years of service, saying he "shows up early each day" and is "very dependable" and a "master welder." During public comment, resident Michael Sheidi said, "we had about 110 kids" who cleaned the cemetery on May 21, describing brush removal, headstone sweeping, raking and trimming and thanking Public Works staff, including Andy and members of the water department, for logistical help.
The board approved the 2026–2027 liquor license renewals after staff reported inspections and background checks. Staff member Deeo Pasani also described three requested amendments to current (2025–2026) licenses that would adjust the area where alcohol may be served; trustees approved those amendments after learning organizers plan to use rope or barrier delineation to mark service areas.
Director Demany reviewed the proposed 2027 budget calendar, highlighting an all-day workshop on Oct. 8, 2026 (8 a.m.), a public hearing and budget adoption on Nov. 9, 2026, and a utility budget adoption scheduled for Dec. 7, 2026.
On a separate vote, the board approved resolution 260007 acknowledging the Village sanitary utility's 2025 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report as required by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, with Director Smith noting the utility received top grades for financial management and system operations. The roll-call vote was 5'0yes, 0'no.
The meeting ended with no new future-agenda items and a unanimous vote to adjourn. The board noted the budget workshop and hearings as next procedural steps.
