At its June 1 meeting the Duxbury Select Board approved several routine items brought forward by staff.
The board voted to request the Division of Local Services (DLS) provide training and assistance this fall to update the town’s financial policies; staff said DLS offers no‑cost consulting to municipalities on best practices.
The board approved the transfer of the common victualler license at 35 Depot St., Unit D (Seabird Coffee to Leaden Street Coffee Company), contingent on satisfactory municipal and health inspections; the applicant said ownership is scheduled to change June 6.
The annual lease with Duxbury Beach Reservation, Inc. for the 12‑month period beginning July 1, 2026, was signed at the same amount as prior years. The board also approved a temporary sign permit to place 18×24 double‑faced freestanding signs at designated town locations to advertise a June 15 public meeting (signs will be removed within 24 hours after the event).
Volunteers were appointed or reappointed to several town committees, and the Rotary Club’s Bluefish River Duck Race event permit for Aug. 15, 2026, was approved under standard conditions. The board also declared a temporary bonus commercial shellfish season in June for certain species.
Most motions passed by roll-call votes; licensing approvals remain contingent on required inspections and fee payments.
