At its May 28 meeting the Moraine City Council unanimously approved emergency supplemental appropriations to add funds from the canceled 2025 crack-sealing program to the 2026 crack-sealing project after the original contractor, Buck Pavement LLC, went out of business. The council moved to suspend the rules to allow second and final reading and adoption at the same meeting, and roll call votes recorded all members voting "yes."
Ordinance 2234-26 was presented as emergency legislation so the transfer could proceed without delay to keep the 2026 crack-sealing program on schedule; the transcript does not list a dollar amount for the transfer. The measure passed on a recorded roll call with Councilmembers Mr. Miller, Mr. Dy, Miss Marcus, Mr. Del, Mrs. Whit, Mrs. Allen and Mayor Murphy recorded as voting yes.
Separately, Council introduced Ordinance 2235-26, which adopts the planning commission’s recommendation to deny a zoning district change at multiple Main Street parcels (city lots 2157, 2158, 5057 and 5275). A councilmember stated on the record they would recuse themselves from matters relating to that ordinance; the item was scheduled for second reading and potential adoption at the June 11, 2026 regular meeting.
Council also adopted Resolution 8238-26, designating the city as an America 250 community and approving receipt of an America 250 flag for display in a city building; that resolution passed on recorded roll-call votes marked yes.
