Dennis, speaking for River Oaks Golf Course, told the Cottage Grove Convention and Visitors Bureau on June 2 that the course has grown substantially over the last five years and is planning a series of capital upgrades through 2030.
"Over the last 5 years, some of our accomplishments is we've been able to pay down about $250,000 of our irrigation project," Dennis said, and later added that the operation has "surpassed the 1.1 million in sales in the clubhouse." He told the board River Oaks recorded about 40,000 rounds annually with a growth trend reaching roughly 45,000 rounds last year and described roughly 35% growth over five years.
Dennis summarized four priorities for 2026–2030: enlarging and improving practice facilities; upgrading the patio (including adding a covered roof); modernizing the course with permanent restrooms and on-course food and beverage service and rebuilding bunkers and cart paths; and adapting event spaces (including possibly an outdoor pavilion) to remain competitive with other local venues. "We're going to continue our growth in golf. We want to continue our growth in events," he said.
Board members and attendees praised the facility. A resident, Eric, said the patio and new amenities have been "outstanding," and members of the Cottage Grove Chamber described River Oaks as a strong venue for community tournaments. Chair Olsson and other board members noted River Oaks' unusual status as a profitable municipal course and credited staff for strong management.
The presentation did not ask the board for immediate action; Dennis closed by inviting questions and discussion about the plan and next steps.
