Alexa, presenting the CVB events plan, briefed the board on several upcoming events aimed at drawing visitors and promoting local businesses.
"We are going to start off with Strawberry Fest, which is happening later this month from June 18th through the 21st," Alexa said, noting the CVB will staff a booth and display coloring-contest entries through June 8. She described a second annual Patio Week (July 12–18), planned paid advertising and a Food Truck Festival slated for Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., for which staff are still seeking sponsors.
Board members asked about vendor caps and fees for the food truck festival. Jamie told the board the selection committee chose 35 trucks from about 53 applicants and that paperwork for selected vendors is in various stages. On pricing, staff said the fee was kept competitive and not raised this year.
Board members also discussed partnerships and sponsorships for large events. Chairman Olsson described a $5,000 Marathon donation that supported public-safety costs at a Memorial Day event and said the city and parks staff had been instrumental in event operations.
Staff asked the board to provide feedback on outreach and sponsorships and to consider a workshop to review the website design when it is further along so event promotion can be integrated.
