Miles Whitney, the city staff member responsible for utilities and street projects, briefed the Hewitt City Council on June 1 with progress reports and near-term schedule notes for several active infrastructure projects.
Whitney said the Commerce Park plan improvements dossier was submitted for review and was slated for reviewer comments by July 3. He told council that plant components on a separate project are operational and that the city planned a punch‑list walkthrough to address minor items.
On a lift-station project the city is awaiting a response from the City of Waco regarding submitted information, Whitney said. For "Plan 1," Whitney said contracts have been executed and a generator is the critical long-lead item: "it was about a 28-week delivery time for that generator," and the notice to proceed will be held until the generator delivery is closer so the contractor’s time does not begin prematurely.
Whitney also said the East Wall and Brierfield street project had a final walkthrough and the contractor reported addressing punch-list items; the city expected to verify completion and begin closeout paperwork. Another project (Minute Pier New Acres) is finalizing design and contract documents, and the team is coordinating around a natural-gas line in the area to verify clearances before proceeding.
Council members did not request additional immediate action; Whitney invited specific questions and offered follow up if council desired more detail.
