The Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved a bundle of sheriff's Office items that included a renewal of a contract for jail mental-health services and formalizing an intergovernmental MOU for reimbursable security services.
County undersheriff and staff told the board the MOU with the United States Capitol Police sets up a reimbursement mechanism when congressional members require security services in the county; staff said historically the department billed but often did not receive payment and that the MOU helps recoup costs.
On a separate grant, staff said a pass-through state grant intended for a Rochester Hills splash pad cannot be implemented before the funder's September 30 deadline because the county accepted the funds late and could not hire or deploy the dispatch specialists or wellness-application subscription in time; staff said the county will return the funding to the pass-through recipient (Oakland County Network/OCN) so it can be reallocated.
Finally, commissioners approved the annual interlocal agreement with Oakland County Network (OCN) for the jail alliance support program, a roughly $147,000 agreement that continues one full-time inmate caseworker position to provide mental-health services in the jail for fiscal year 2027.
All sheriff-related items were presented and approved without recorded opposition during the meeting.
