Council awards $149,220 contract package to replace undersized School Avenue water main

The City Council authorized the city manager to execute an agreement with DR Pipeline to replace a failing 4‑inch water main on the 100 block of School Avenue.

Staff described a roughly 480‑foot section of aged 4‑inch steel main that provides inadequate capacity and is subject to tuberculation and leaks. The project replaces the line with C900 pipe, installs 11 new poly water services, upgrades fittings and adds a fire hydrant. The apparent low bid from DR Pipeline was $124,350; with construction engineering and contingency the total project budget is $149,220 to be funded from the Water Capital Replacement Fund (Fund 644).

Staff said DR Pipeline has done previous work for the city, will notify residents door‑to‑door before construction, and plans to start water work the week of June 19 after preliminary sewer work. Council approved the resolution authorizing the agreement by roll call vote (5–0).
