1000 South project advertised for bids; contractors to finish culvert and utilities this year

Jeffrey (Jeff) Baker of Jones & DeMille updated the Ballard City Council on the 1000 South Project on May 19, saying the project is currently advertised for bids and that contractors have shown strong interest.

Baker said the project team will issue an addendum to revise contract dates. Under the revised schedule, contractors will be required to complete the box culvert with backfill and all underground utilities by the end of 2026; remaining work such as paving and striping may be completed in spring 2027. Bids are due June 1 at 1:00 p.m.; Baker said he will present bid results at the June 2 council meeting and will follow up on the project's permit status during the week.

The council did not take a final procurement decision at the May 19 meeting; the bid opening and results will be handled at the next meeting.
