Council hears parks, memorial and P3 updates; Accessible Communities meeting planned

During council committee reports, a council member said the Accessible Communities Collective will meet Thursday to begin community outreach about accessible playground equipment and what residents want to see in local parks.

Council members also discussed progress on a memorial installation: the contractor expects to pour the concrete by the end of the week or early next week, after which poles, fencing, bench installation and seeding will follow. "He's going to have the concrete poured by the end of this week, the first next week, the latest," the speaker said, adding the contractor would mount fixtures to the new pads and set benches.

On economic development, council agreed to invite Brian Hill to the June 15 meeting to present on public-private partnership (P3) opportunities for the full council; Hill previously briefed the planning and economic development committee. The council discussed logistics for the June finance committee and full meeting schedule.

Separately, officials said rain delays had constrained service-department work at Westside Park and the village will hire a contractor to finish the project under staff supervision so the park is serviceable before the end of summer.

No formal votes or funding approvals for the park work or the memorial were recorded at the meeting; council and staff described ongoing coordination and next steps.
