Council approves small business façade grant and funds lift‑station controls; consent agenda passes

At its June 1 meeting the council moved and approved the consent agenda (items 7A–7I) by roll call. The council also unanimously approved a business improvement grant of $13,780.68 to support storefront and interior improvements for Sassy Primitives at 909 Front Street; the owners (Wendy and Caitlyn) attended and council members welcomed the new downtown retailer.

In public works business, Council authorized a waiver of competitive bidding and accepted a $71,425 proposal from Advanced Automation and Controls Inc. to furnish an electrical control panel and pump controls for the Donovan lift station. Director Adams said the lift station is nearly 30 years old and the purchase is part of a larger $325,000 rehabilitation. Council members asked about the sole‑source rationale; staff said consistency with existing SCADA integrator programming and communications was the reason for the single‑vendor selection.
