A resident raised concerns about several apparently vacant properties with overgrown lawns on Robert Drive, Country Lane and nearby streets, saying the problem recurs on a rotating basis: one week the property is cut, then it grows again and neighbors endure untidy lots and obstructed sidewalks.
The resident said they have filed multiple complaints and provided photos and paperwork to the village but that the 10-day notice-and-cure process repeatedly leaves properties unmaintained. "I have four complaints... it's been going on since last September and October," the resident told the board, asking for a more expedient enforcement method.
Board members said they would speak to the public works supervisor (Boris) promptly and consult village counsel about whether the code offers a faster enforcement mechanism than the standard 10-day notice; the mayor said the village newsletter includes the grass-cutting code to raise awareness. Members acknowledged staffing pressures for enforcement and discussed possible legal and administrative options to address repeat offenders.
The board did not adopt any immediate ordinance change at the meeting but directed staff to consult counsel and return with options.
