Burke County unanimously appoints Travis Isaacs as tax administrator

The Burke County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026‑16 on June 1, appointing Travis Isaacs (also transcribed at times as Travis Isaac/Isaacs) as the county’s tax administrator, tax collector and assessor effective June 1, 2026. The board voted unanimously (4‑0) to approve the appointment and the required bond.

Brian Epley, the county manager, introduced Isaacs and noted that he recently passed the North Carolina Department of Revenue certification exam and brings nearly 14½ years of experience at the Department of Revenue plus prior local tax‑office experience. "I'm anxious to serve," Isaacs said in brief remarks; he described prior work at a county tax office and the state revenue division.

After the motion to adopt Resolution 2026‑16 passed 4‑0, the clerk administered the oath of office. The manager said the outgoing tax official’s final settlement will be presented at the June 15 meeting and backdated to June 1 for reporting purposes.
