Mr. Knap updated attendees on operations and capital work at the South Gibson Community & Teen Center.
"The solar company just got back with me three weeks ago and said that Centerpoint just now approved our plan to put the solar panels on the roof," Mr. Knap said. He added that Rock Frog Solar is tied up with a larger project and expects to perform the center's installation toward the end of June.
Mr. Knap said the center remains eligible for a rebate and the center contracted Smith and Settles accounting firm to assist with the rebate application because the application process was judged too complex to do in-house. He also reported increased gym use following a year-and-a-half closure and said Holy Cross school has been using the gym for events.
On small outstanding items, Mr. Knap said the center was waiting for four basketballs to be installed (one for each side of the courts) and glass for newly installed cabinets. He said overall operations are improving and that the board of directors was pleased with recent activity.
Procedurally, the Chair announced that the July meeting (confirmed for July 13 at 6:00 p.m.) will include public comment; a signup sheet will be posted and speakers will be limited to three minutes. The meeting adjourned after those announcements.
