The Metro Human Relations Commission completed officer elections, accepted its executive director's evaluation and spent substantial time on improving financial reporting clarity.
Nominating committee slates were presented and commissioners voted by roll call. Commissioner Johnson was elected chair; Commissioner Teague elected first vice chair; Commissioner Win elected second vice chair; Commissioner Ins elected secretary; and Commissioner McKenna elected treasurer. The new executive committee was congratulated.
Commissioner Teague presented Edy Tucker's evaluation, which received an overall score indicating that the director "consistently meets and exceeds expectations" in several categories including language access and community relations; the commission accepted the evaluation unanimously among those present.
Earlier in the meeting staff and commissioners discussed the June budget report. Commissioners described the metro-produced report as confusing because of negative numbers, month-to-month backfilling and a 45-day reporting lag; staff committed to working with Metro Finance to produce a commission-specific expense report that clarifies recurring versus manipulable categories and reconciles months for oversight.
What happens next: Staff will continue creating a clarified commission expense report in consultation with Metro Finance; the new executive committee will assume leadership at the next meeting.
