Board of Public Works and Safety approves voice-agreement addendum; mayor's office to be utilities contact

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract addendum and the underlying voice agreement at a special meeting May 28, 2026, authorizing rate changes to appear on July bills and designating the mayor’s office as the contact for utilities.

A staff member presenting the item said the addendum was needed because “the original agreement did not have the non-appropriation, non-discrimination, E‑Verify clause” and that one version of the contract had E‑Verify but omitted the non-discrimination and non-appropriation language. The presenter said the addendum also reflects that, since March, the mayor’s office will control utilities and be the primary contact for the contract.

City Attorney Julie clarified the procedure, saying the agreement is not an ordinance or resolution and therefore does not require a formal reading; the board needed only a motion, a second and a vote to accept the amendments and the agreement. A board member moved to approve the addendums and the voice agreement; another member seconded. The board voted by voice.
