At its May 28 meeting, the Rangeley Park Commission gave updates on several infrastructure and maintenance items, including a rebid for the Pound Park gazebo, phase-two work at the Aquatic/Range Park, proposed beach replenishment and an upcoming order for new dock slips if the budget passes.
The commission said two initial bids for the gazebo were incomplete and the project was reissued with a June 4 closing date. Members clarified they are advancing both pavilion and gazebo work but may stagger construction; pavilion work is tied to the broader Range Park/Aquatic Park phase-two scope, which includes ADA-accessible walkways, drainage improvements and the possibility of lighting.
On shoreline work, commissioners described a plan to replenish the beach using dredged material from the site where state approvals allow reuse rather than importing sand. They noted the PBR permit has a two-year window and that water levels may limit how far work can progress before October; if levels remain high, deeper work might wait until the fall drawdown.
If the town budget passes, staff said docking slips will be ordered starting July 1 and installed in the weeks after. Commissioners also reported recent maintenance including mulch and crack-seal operations and said funding in the pending budget would support a new corner camera to improve coverage of park entrances.
Next steps: staff will reopen the gazebo solicitation, continue coordination with state shoreline and Army Corps reviewers for dredging, and, if the budget is approved, place orders for dock slips and cameras.
