The Goshen Central School District board reported at a June 1 special meeting that the leading candidate in its superintendent search notified them he was withdrawing from consideration for the permanent superintendent role but agreed to remain as interim for six months while the search continues.
President List updated the public on the search process: the district solicited proposals and engaged a vendor (the transcript reported the vendor name as "BOSIES"; the district described it as a no-cost service provided to component districts). The board used three rounds of interviews with input from staff, building leadership, a union representative and a community member; a subcommittee worked with the vendor to screen candidates.
President List said the board learned at the final stage that the leading candidate, Mr. Bonjobi, was withdrawing his candidacy for the permanent post. The president said the candidate was "amicable" to staying on as interim and the board requested a six-month interim extension, which the candidate accepted. The transcript does not give reasons for the withdrawal.
The board said it will continue the search and remain engaged with the vendor and subcommittee to identify a permanent replacement. No final appointment was made during the June 1 meeting.
