Planning commission continues conditional-use petition for 80 North State Street to July 6

The Elgin Planning Commission voted 6–0 to continue conditional-use petition 11-26, concerning a proposed entertainment and recreation use at 80 North State Street, to the commission’s July 6 meeting.

Staff told commissioners that they had received additional documents late in the review period and that multiple departments needed more time to complete their reviews. Staff requested the continuance to allow time for those reviews; a commissioner moved to continue the petition and another seconded the motion. The commission called the roll and approved the continuance 6–0.

The continuance means the commission will consider the applicant’s updated submittal and any supplemental departmental comments at the July 6 meeting. Staff said the continuance was requested specifically to ensure all departments could review the late materials; no public testimony was taken on this item at the meeting.

Next steps: the petition will return to the Planning Commission on July 6, when staff expects to present the completed interdepartmental review and any recommended conditions to the commission.
