Bernards Township clerk draws ballot positions for June 2 primary

Christine Kiefer, municipal clerk for Bernards Township, conducted a recorded drawing to determine the ballot order for candidates in the June 2, 2026 primary in Bernards Township.

Kiefer said the drawing was ‘‘being conducted in accordance with provisions of NJSA 19:14-12.’’ She described a uniform process in which each candidate’s name was placed into a container and mixed in view of witnesses; Deputy Municipal Clerk Kelly was designated to record the results and the recording will be available on the township’s official website.

The drawing placed the municipal Republican Township Committee names in the announced order: Kirsten Light, then Paul Humbert and Venkaty Ragupathy. For the Democratic County Committee in Bernards Township District 23, Kristen J. Bloomquist was drawn before Raymond J. Shin. Kiefer said the results will be recorded, provided to the Somerset County Clerk and reflected on the official ballot.

No motions or votes were taken during the proceeding; it was a procedural drawing to set ballot positions. The session concluded with Kiefer thanking attendees and closing the drawing.
