Brown County commissioners approved the May 27 payroll and the May 29 accounts payable during their May 29 session.
Commissioner Richard Tesoriero moved to approve the May 27, 2026 payroll; Commissioner William Pollock seconded and the motion carried. Later, Chairman Lucas Heinen moved to approve the May 29 claims as presented; Commissioner Tesoriero seconded and the motion carried. The claims listing included multiple fund-level totals (General $102,702.95; Road & Bridge $16,776.99; Employee Benefit $41,897.69; 911 SB50 $120,000.00 among others) and a reported overall total of $321,501.77.
Also during open session, Commissioner Heinen moved to discontinue the monthly Solid Waste stipend for C & D pit extra duties to the Noxious Weed Director, stating the Transfer Station is now fully staffed; Commissioner Tesoriero seconded and the motion carried. Commissioner Tesoriero reported that 38 of 40 patriotic banner locations around the Courthouse Square have been reserved and that the City of Hiawatha expressed interest in extending the project to additional light poles.
