Town Manager Stacy Tolbert presented the Town of Lewisville’s proposed fiscal year 2026–27 general fund budget at the council’s May 14 meeting, describing a balanced plan that totals $7,966,464 and keeps the property tax rate unchanged at 18 cents per $100 of assessed value.
“Tonight, I present to you the proposed budget for fiscal year 26, 2027. The proposed general fund budget is 7,966,464,” Tolbert said, noting the proposal followed three April budget work sessions and an initial presentation on April 9.
The council conducted a public hearing on the proposal. Tolbert said the budget had been available for public viewing on the town website and at Town Hall and that staff would present the final budget message and the council’s decision at the regular meeting on June 11, 2026.
Resident Deborah Thompson used the meeting’s public forum earlier to urge the council to address traffic and growth concerns in town. “I’m just not happy,” Thompson said, describing damage she has experienced to her property and questioning whether recent development benefits long-term taxpayers.
Council members raised no substantive changes at the meeting and agreed to cancel a planned May 18 workshop, leaving time for staff to prepare any materials for the June 11 decision. The council did not take a final vote on the budget on May 14.
If adopted on June 11, the proposal would keep the town’s tax rate steady; Tolbert emphasized that any changes would be presented in the final budget message at that meeting.
The town encouraged residents to review budget documents online and noted the June 11 meeting will include the final presentation and vote on the FY 2026–27 budget.
