Upper Township officials on July 5 updated the committee on infrastructure projects and grant work, citing near-term completion milestones on multiple items.
Public Works reported the Strathmeade pump-station work is essentially 90% complete, with at least two pump stations fully operational; a check valve installation was scheduled to prevent tidal backflow and complete remaining work. The public-works speaker said heavy recent rains highlighted the need for quicker runoff conveyance and that the pump stations are improving drainage performance.
Paving crews began mill-and-overlay operations in the township’s northeast area the week of July 5, with full mill-and-overlay completion expected in about four to six weeks, followed by striping and some localized reconstruction. Officials said municipal-aid grant applications and county open-space grant resubmissions (including skate-park improvements at Amandes Field) were submitted to meet program deadlines.
The committee also announced that the senior-center air-conditioning system had been replaced under emergency procedures. Meeting remarks said the township secured a $61,000 grant that covered the majority of an approximately $68,000 replacement and thanked the administrator and finance staff for fast-tracking the emergency procurement; the speaker said procurement rules were followed and that the project will be reimbursed by the grant after documented expenditures are submitted.
No formal vote was required for these updates. Committee members asked staff to report back as bids and reimbursements are finalized.
