The Bolton Fire Commission on Dec. 9 honored members of the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department for a Brandy Street response that on Oct. 9, 2024 helped save two people in about 14 minutes, and unanimously voted to forward the department's proposed 2025-2026 budget to the Board of Selectmen.
Fire Commission Chairman John Morianos convened the meeting at the Bolton Fire House at 8:10 P.M. and led brief agenda business before the recognition and budget action. Bolton Fire Chief Bruce Dixon described the "Life Saving Recognition" ceremony, saying certificates were distributed to BVFD members, ASM ambulance personnel and others who assisted at the Brandy Street call. Chief Dixon also reviewed the department's proposed 2025-2026 budget.
The commission approved the Nov. 25, 2024 meeting minutes earlier in the session. Later, a motion to forward the Fire Commission's 2025-2026 budget "as presented" was made by Commissioner Chris Moquin and seconded by Commissioner Robert Langton; the minutes record the motion as carried by voice vote (VU).
Chairman Morianos told the commission the Life Saving Recognition ceremony was "very well received" and praised Chief Dixon's leadership, saying the outcome of the Oct. 9 call could have been very different without that leadership.
The commission scheduled its next meeting for Jan. 27, 2025. A motion to adjourn, moved by Commissioner Chris Moquin and seconded by Commissioner Robert Langton, carried by voice vote and the meeting ended at 8:15 P.M.
