The Flat Rock City Council approved three purchases for the fire department to be covered by a fire-engine grant: a final engine upfit invoice for $8,851; two Attack Pro S thermal-imaging cameras at $7,100 plus a $110 accessory for gear-keeping and chargers/batteries; and a Superack 16-inch positive-pressure fan with batteries and charger for $5,355. The combined total for the items presented is $21,416 and staff said all items would be paid from grant funds.
Jim, who presented the items, explained the thermal cameras include four batteries and two desktop chargers and that the battery-powered fan can be used both externally and inside structures to eject smoke, reducing damage. Each purchase was moved, seconded and approved by council by voice vote.
What happens next: procurement staff will finalize purchases using grant funds and the fire department will inventory and deploy the items in service operations.
