The Lincoln‑Lancaster County Planning Commission voted 7–0 to approve a special‑permit amendment allowing a new access point to Battle Run Golf Course on South 112th Street.
Planning staff said the amendment concerns a southeast portion of the previously approved golf course boundary and that the proposed driveway location—approximately 1,350 feet north of A Street—meets the required separation from A Street. George Wesselhoff of Planning and Development Services told the commission both the county engineer and the city’s Transportation and Utilities Department had no objection to the driveway location.
John Barry of Lancaster County Engineering told commissioners the road currently handles roughly 320 vehicles per day and that the 112th corridor is not in the county’s immediate paving plan; he said the county tracks traffic annually and would reassess if counts rise.
Applicant Aaron Brightite said construction of most golf holes and the maintenance building is already underway and that the secondary access is primarily intended for service vehicles and deliveries for a small starter‑house/clubhouse and associated parking. He estimated the starter‑house parking to be “in the neighborhood of 25 to 35 stalls.”
After brief questions and no public opposition, the planning commission closed the hearing and approved special permit 25001A unanimously.
