City updates: runway-lighting work underway, hangar project paused for soil stabilization, oil-and-chip set for July 16

City leaders provided multiple infrastructure updates. The mayor reported that a runway-lighting project (described in the meeting as "reels") began on runways 22 and 33 and is expected to take roughly 20 days. He also said a hangar construction project is paused pending soil stabilization and electrical work, with an anticipated restart in mid-May and completion hoped by mid-November.

Separately, public-works staff and contractors confirmed that Mount Carmel Stabilization will perform oil-and-chip work beginning July 16, followed by a fog seal the next week. Staff agreed to provide road maps and lists to coordinate the project and minimize disruption.

Mr. Garcia reported contractors arrived late for the lighting work on the day discussed but that crews would continue into the evening and return in the morning. The council asked staff to circulate the list of roads slated for treatment prior to the July work to assist coordination.
