The Unified Government commission on May 28 approved the planning and zoning consent agenda by an 8–0 roll-call vote, adopting the planning commission’s recommendations for multiple zone changes, special-use permits and master-plan amendments.
Items approved on the consent agenda included, among others: COZ 2025-033 (Tyler Coy / convert a single-family home at 403 Barnett Avenue into a duplex), COZ 2026-00001 (rezoning at 320 North 61st Street to allow horses), COZ 2026-00005 (rezoning for a Texas Roadhouse restaurant at 1300 North 98th Street), and multiple special-use permits for non-owner short-term rentals, an automobile repair and sales business, a child care center at 7250 State Avenue, and an event venue at North Fifth Street. Planning staff read the full list at the meeting; most items had been recommended by the planning commission by votes of 7–0.
Before the consolidated vote, Commissioner Comp requested that item 8.4A (an ordinance describing mileage reimbursement authority for planning commission members) be set aside for separate consideration; staff then presented that item and the commission eventually sent it back to the planning commission for additional work (see separate coverage).
Vote and procedure: after the clerk read the consent items, Commissioner Ramirez moved to approve the remaining items; a roll call produced eight pro votes and the clerk declared the motion carried. The planning and zoning consent agenda will be reflected in the official minutes and the ordinance and permit records will be processed per standard procedures.
For full details on each case number, applicants and recommended durations (where applicable), see the planning department records. The full list as read into the record will be included with the meeting minutes.
