At its May 28 meeting the North Vernon City Board of Public Works approved a set of routine operational requests and motions, including security cameras for the code enforcement office, two event stage rentals and payment of claims, and declined a homeowner's request to have the city move a streetlight.
Staff said the city recently purchased a building at 505 Amb Drive to serve as a code enforcement office and recommended installing four cameras—one on each side—to protect the asset. A vendor quote for the work was presented; a board member moved to approve, the motion was seconded, and the chair announced, "Motion carries 20."
The board also approved two stage rental requests: St. Mary's Church requested city stage use Sept. 9–12, and North Vernon City Park requested the stage for July 4. Those requests were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
A homeowner asked the city to move a light pole at 724 Woodfield Court after construction of a new driveway. Staff reported the driveway permit had been approved and that the pole did not obstruct the driveway; the board declined to pay for moving the pole and denied the request pending more information. The chair announced the motion to deny carried by voice.
Separately, the clerk presented payroll/claims matters, including a follow‑up claim amount read into the record. A motion to approve the claims was seconded and carried.
What this means: The board processed multiple routine items in a single session rather than referring them for later study. The board's votes were announced by voice; the minutes reflect approvals and a denial but do not provide detailed roll‑call tallies in the meeting transcript.
