The Fond du Lac City Council on May 27 unanimously approved a resolution to amend the Steuart Sewer Service Area to include a parcel east of State 151 and north of County 23 so it can be served by the city wastewater plant.
City staff introduced the item, saying an 18-inch interceptor runs just east of the parcel and “we have plenty of capacity and we're able to serve this at the wastewater treatment plant,” and that the omission was an oversight when the map was updated in 2018. The Plan Commission and staff recommended approval.
Council asked no substantive questions of staff. Mr. Zimmerman moved to approve the amendment, Miss Mayweather seconded, and the council voted to adopt the resolution unanimously.
The change brings the parcel into the officially mapped sewer-service area; staff said the amendment will be sent to the Department of Natural Resources as a procedural next step. City staff also noted the parcel was recently rezoned and granted a special-use permit in March for a senior living development, which prompted the map change.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the approval. The amendment is intended to allow the developer to connect to city sewer infrastructure; staff said they would complete state-level filings following the council’s action.
