The Fond du Lac City Council voted unanimously on May 27 to reject the Plan Commission’s recommendation and declare a small corner parcel at 28 East Bank Street surplus.
Miss Hoffman introduced the agenda item and said Plan Commission had recommended denial because some information was not available at the committee meeting. Council member Mullen, who sat on the Plan Commission meeting, told the council that subsequent documents showed an individual, Craig Wilson, had been given representations by the city “for many years that this property would eventually be sold to him,” and that renovations and repairs were already underway. Citing the potential delay and the new information, Mullen moved to reject the Plan Commission recommendation and declare the parcel surplus; Miss Bralt seconded the motion.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the size of the parcel and that the surplus declaration covered a small corner concrete building while the rest of the larger parcel would remain city-owned. With no further questions, the council voted and the resolution passed unanimously.
The motion directs staff to execute the city council's decision regarding the parcel. Council did not specify a sales price or a timeline for disposition during the meeting; staff materials referenced by Miss Hoffman were attached to the meeting agenda but specific sale terms were not discussed on the record.
